Ronald L. Deuel, 89, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on February 8, 1936, in Elkhart, Ron was the son of the late Lee B. and Gertrude A. (Leist) Deuel. He graduated from Elkhart High School in 1954 and later attended The American College, earning his degree in 1979.
Ron proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Piedmont and the USS Dixie. Following his military service, he began a lifelong career in the insurance industry as the founder of Ronald L. Deuel, CLU & Associates, serving clients from 1960 to the present. Over the years, Ron held many professional accomplishments — he was a past president of the Elkhart County Association of Life Underwriters, served as a unit manager for 17 years with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, and was a member of the Leaders Club with both Occidental Life and Mass Mutual.
A 32nd° Mason with the former Blue Lodge in Elkhart, Ron was deeply involved in his community. He enjoyed all sports, particularly tennis, and sponsored numerous tournaments in Elkhart over the years.
Ron is survived by his wife, Beatrice (Marslender) Deuel; his children, David (Romagene) Deuel of Clarkston, MI, and Rick (Betty) Deuel of Elkhart, IN; grandchildren Buffy JoAnn (Steven) Kinasz, Bradley (Tia) Deuel, Brent (Sara) Deuel, and Jason Fuller; and great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Morgan, and Brody Deuel. He is also survived by his brother, Larry Deuel of Elkhart, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Norman Deuel; and his first wife, Charlene (Oaks) Deuel.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Ron will be laid to rest at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.
