Obituary

Sarah Jo Crane, 15, passed away Dec. 7, 2013 surrounded by her parents and sisters at home. She was born June 17, 1998 in Elkhart to Dean and Julie (Zimmerle) Crane. She is survived by her parents, her three sisters; Kylee, Allyson and Jenna Crane. Her grandparents, aunts, uncles and numerous cousins. Sarah was a sophomore at Elkhart Memorial High School where she was a varsity letter winner of the cross country and track teams and member of the color guard and dance team. Through athletics and academics, health and sickness, Sarah maintained a positive attitude that could quickly spread through her infectious smile. She was humble, yet radiant. She was eclectic, yet intelligent. She was selfless and she was determined. She was a loving daughter, sister and friend that could leave an impact the second you met her. Lastly, she renewed hope in a community that was struggling through her defiant stand to face the odds and fight back. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2013 at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 14, 2013 at California Road Missionary Church. Burial will follow at California Road Cemetery. The Crane family would also like to express their everlasting gratitude for the love and support they have received over the past five months. The #SARAHSTRONG foundation not only illustrates the strength of Sarah, but the vigor of others and symbolizes the love and courage all possess. The family wishes to continue the foundation to pay it forward for years to come. Memorials may be made to the Sarah Strong Foundation, care of www.sarahstrong.org.
