Sherrill L. Wenger, 91, of Elkhart, died at home on Thursday, January 19, 2023.
He was born in Elkhart on May 23, 1931, to the late Harvey C. and Bessie Leona (Fullmer) Wenger. Also preceding him in death are two brothers, Richard and Darwin Wenger.
Sherrill married Carolyn S. Beck in Wakarusa in 1960. Carolyn died July 17, 2019. Surviving is a daughter, Tracy (Ron) McKim of Elkhart; a son, Michael (Tobi) McKim of Middlebury and three grandchildren: Abigail McKim, Madeleine McKim and Jeremy Wenger.
Sherrill retired from NIBCO after 39 years as a tool and die maker. He graduated from Jimtown High School and served in the United States Navy. He was an active member of First Church of the Nazarene from 1976-1995. As a member of the church, they went on many international mission trips. An avid sports fan, Sherrill enjoyed New York Yankees baseball, I.U. basketball and Notre Dame football. In his spare time, he could often be found working in his yard.
Visitation for Sherrill will be held on Sunday, January 22 from 2:00 until 4:00 and one hour prior to services at 11:00 am on Monday, January 23rd, all at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. The Rev. Joe Rager will officiate. Burial will be in Olive Cemetery where military honors will be rendered.
