Susan Catherine (Landis) Stout

Susan Catherine (Landis) Stout passed away at the age of 80 on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at The Restoracy of Goshen.

She was born July 26, 1944, in Elkhart to the late Captain John C. and Marguerite (Martin) Landis.

Susan graduated from Bristol High School and attended Purdue University.  While at Purdue, she met Dennis W. Stout of Elkhart.  The two were married in Bristol on August 20, 1966. After graduation, the couple returned to Elkhart where Dennis practiced pharmacy and Susan taught early childhood development.  Dennis died December 13, 1998.

Susan is survived by a sister, Mary Ann (Landis) Martin, three children: Jennifer Matchette, John (Margaret) Stout and David (Ashley) Stout and eight grandchildren: Chloe and Caleb Matchette, Katelyn, Jacob, Jacquelyn and Abigail Stout and Cole and Garrett Stout.

Private family services and burial will be held at Prairie Street Cemetery where Susan will be laid to rest with other family members.  Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Susan may be made to the Elkhart County Historical Museum 304 W. Vistula St. Bristol, IN 46507.
