Theodore P. Huff, 78, of Cassopolis, died at home on Thursday, December 31, 2020.
Ted was born August 1, 1942 in Elkhart to the late Paul and Theodora (Geiser) Huff. Also preceding him in death is a brother, Donald R. Huff.
He is survived by his children: Kelly (Nathan) Thayer of Cassopolis; Christopher Huff of Ft. Wayne: a grandson, Vander Thayer of Cassopolis; a brother, Roger Huff of Elkhart and a sister-in-law, Sue Huff of Elkhart.
Ted was employed by T.R. Arnold and Associates until his “semi-retirement” in 2013 but continued to do consulting work until his actual retirement in 2015.
At the young age of three, Ted was given a drum set, which set him on his lifelong love of music. He played in the United States Navy band and traveled the world playing for the troops. After his discharge, he continued playing the drums with the Elkhart Jazz Assemblage. He was also extremely active with the Elkhart Jazz Festival since its inception. When he wasn’t “sitting in” and playing with nationally known musicians at the jazz festival, he was behind the scenes, helping to ensure a smooth production. Ted also enjoyed shooting sporting clays, fly fishing and was an avid golfer.
There will be no services or visitation at this time. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions in memory of Ted may be made to: Shriners Hospitals for Children 2211 North Oak Park Avenue Chicago, IL 60707 or the Elkhart Jazz Assemblage.
