Thomas E. Hosler, 83, of Bristol, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Elkhart General Hospital.
Tom was born on August 14, 1940, in Elkhart to the late Lester E. and Mary E. (Goudy) Hosler. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Kauffman and Carole Cudahy, two brothers, Richard and Robert Hosler and a son-in-law, Ian Morrell.
On February 17, 1962, in Elkhart, Tom married Patricia S. Lantz. She survives along with two daughters, Amanda Morrell of Trabuco Canyon, CA and MaryAnne Hosler of Bristol and three grandsons: Jeffrey Hosler of Miami Beach, FL, Connor Morrell of Indianapolis and Colin Morrell of Pasadena, CA.
Tom graduated from Elkhart High School and served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Jason. He began his working career at the Elkhart Police Department where he was employed from 1966 until 1987. He worked his way up to captain of the uniformed division. He then worked in sales for Haulmark Industries from 1987 until 2007 when he took a position in sales at Look Trailers. He worked at Look Trailers from 2010 until his retirement in 2020.
He was a member of St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, the Elkhart F.O.P. Lodge 52, the Knights of Columbus Council 1043 and was also a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus Council 2035. Tom also enjoyed coaching baseball at the F.O.P. park where he coached the Babe Ruth league. He also coached at Harris Little League in Granger and in Bristol.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church 411 W. Vistula St. Bristol. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am. The Rev. Robert Van Kempen will officiate and burial will be in St. Vincent Cemetery. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions in memory of Tom may be made to St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church or the Humane Society of Elkhart County 54687 C. R. 19 Bristol, IN 46507.
