Timothy T. O’Toole, 59, of Elkhart died at Elkhart Meadows on Saturday, November 7, 2020. “If I knew the way I would take you home.” His friends called him Box and it is a long list of friends. His enthusiasm and smile were contagious. He was a glowing example of what it meant to be a friend. Music surrounded everything, mostly the Grateful Dead music.
Tim was born on July 13, 1961 in Meadowbrook, PA (just north of Philadelphia). He grew up in Elkhart, attending Elkhart Memorial High School before graduating from Indiana University. He had a large core group of friends that all went by nicknames. Hodgy, Ivan, Sumo, Squirrel, Little Guy, Danger, Rusty, Snake (apologies to those left off the list). It took Tim’s family years to learn their true names, even though they were constantly with Tim.
Tim married Bridget McNeile in 1992 (we all knew she was above his pay grade, but we are glad she agreed to it). He began dancing with his daughter Kelsey in 1994, his daughter Siobhan in 1995, and his son Michael in 1997. Terrapin Station, Fire on the Mountain, and giggles could be heard from the O’Toole basement.
Tim’s sister Kathy (the awesome one), brother Pat (the kinda awesome one) and brother DJ (the other one) will continue to celebrate his life. Tim was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Mike O’Toole.
There will be no public service for Tim at this time. The family is planning a celebration of Tim’s life for this coming summer 2021. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in Tim’s name would greatly be appreciated.
Tim’s family has one request for all his friends. Listen to the song “Ripple” and remember Tim. He will be greatly missed.
