I am ill and unable to attend Dave's calling, but I want to express my condolences on your loss. I have fond memories of working on the shot put with Dave at Central Junior High. He was always smiling and optimistic. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

Mrs. Rice and Family,
My name is Mike Kyser. My grandfather, father and I all worked for the Plymouth Monument Works. My grandfather worked there for 50 years. My father and I worked the night shift from 1970-1980. My mother--Patsy and my aunt --Thelma Newcomb worked in the office at Plymouth until it closed.
I remember with great fondness working for David. He had alot on his plate as he tried to balance the Elkhart-Plymouth Shops and the Easy shopping Center. The Dave Rice I knew was a gentle man, a good man and a patient individual who tried not to offend his employees or put excessive demands on them.....and yet I'm sure he was asked to do the impossible himself. Dave made the Plymouth Monument job an endearing experience for me( I taught school at Bremen for 34 years---the monument engraving and setting was a second job for me). I am very sorry for your loss. You and the family will be in my prayers.
