Bill was one of the first bankruptcy attorneys I met back in 1986 when I became the new bankruptcy judge in South Bend. My colleague Judge Bob Rodibaugh warned me to be at my best whenever Bill was in my courtroom, as he believed Bill to be among the top half-dozen bankruptcy lawyers in the state. I quickly learned that Bill was always prepared, made convincing arguments, and hated to lose. He was a fierce advocate but always civil and friendly. He will be missed, and my condolences to his wonderful family, especially my new colleague, Judge Debby Thorne.
